Mehera and Baba on the Swing “I Will Never Leave You”
March and May 1989. When I was painting, I wrote to Mehera, “I feel like you are looking at me.” She received my letter and wrote back immediately on April 4th, as she was departing from the Trust Compound to go to Poona. She said in her letter that she felt as if we were having a beautiful conversation, just visiting with each other. Then I found out on May 11 that she was dying and I saw that the painting was finished. It was the last painting of her I did before she died.
